Established in 2018 by industry veterans Barney and Cait Hart Dyke, The Colour Noise is built on a foundation of over 90 years of combined theatrical experience.

Barney Hart Dyke
Fearless storytelling built on flawless technical execution.
Barney is a director and creative theatre maker who combines rigorous technical expertise with a dedication to bold, narrative-driven storytelling. As the Co-Artistic Director of The Colour Noise, his holistic understanding of production mechanics ensures that every project is both technically seamless and creatively fearless.
He is a pivotal figure in the South West London fringe theatre scene, largely through his extensive leadership at Putney Theatre Company. Barney initially served a successful four-year solo term as Artistic Director from 2006 to 2010, guiding the company’s creative vision. He later returned to the role in 2022 alongside his wife, Cait, concluding a highly celebrated and critically acclaimed joint tenure in 2025.
His diverse directing portfolio covers a vast range of genres, with a particular strength in high-energy comedies and classic drama. His notable work includes fast-paced farces like Tom Basden’s adaptation of Dario Fo’s Accidental Death of an Anarchist and Richard Bean’s One Man, Two Guvnors. He has also directed comedic favourites such as Tom Stoppard’s Shakespeare in Love and Ray Cooney’s Out of Order, alongside timeless Shakespearean productions A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Henry V.
Cait Hart Dyke
An acclaimed stage actor and visionary arts leader shaping London theatre.
Cait is an accomplished actor, producer, and occasional director who brings a rich background in arts leadership to The Colour Noise. She previously shaped local performing arts as the joint Artistic Director of the Putney Theatre Company from 2022 to 2025, alongside Barney.
Represented by Red Talent Management, Cait is a prolific performer frequently cast in prominent classical and contemporary London productions. Audiences and critics widely praise her for her exceptional comic timing and versatile emotional range.
Her notable recent acting credits include starring as Joy in Wanderlust at the South London Theatre, and portraying the dual roles of Hippolyta and Titania in A Midsummer Night's Dream. She also earned critical acclaim playing Libby in The Last of the Haussmans, the iconic Wife of Bath in The Canterbury Tales, and both Fairy Bowbells and Camille Crabbe in Look Behind You at the Tabard Theatre.
